Me: I'm a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in the State of Texas with a master's degree in accounting from UTSA and seven years of experience with GAAP financial statements and all types of tax returns. My main areas of concentration are construction contractors along with rental real estate.

Before I got into accounting, I worked in game development building medical training simulations for the military and private sector. I taught college, backpacked across Italy and France, and drove a tractor trailer OTR for six months back in the days when dinosaurs roamed the Earth (or thereabouts).

Outside of work, I am married and we have a pack of rescued dogs. I am currently training for an ultramarathon. I have a few colonies of honeybees, and enjoy reading, painting, and spending as much time outdoors as I can.

The problem with bigger firms: Ghosted by a firm faster than a bad tinder date after signing the engagement letter? Tired of dealing with firms that dump your work on under-supervised low level staff, who mean well, but lack experience? Fifteen calls later and you've only managed to talk to the receptionist?

Most firms don't mind shipping your work offshore to a faraway land where they can pay peanuts and dodge employment regulations. Don't be fooled, this doesn't save YOU a dime. We all know what Private Equity values most.

The Firm: Want a CPA who actually has experience with construction and real estate accounting? Most don't have any experience in these areas but they'll still take your money and probably mess up your Texas franchise tax!

I'll give you the straight skinny, not necessarily what you want to hear. If you want someone who will blow smoke up your backside and lie to you that it's sunshine, then it's probably best for you to click that little red 'X' in the upper right corner of your screen now, because that's not me.
